Albert Judson was born on 14th May 1921 in the heart of Manchester in a place called Miles Platting to parents Elizabeth and George Judson.
After leaving school at the tender age of 14 he went to work at AV Roe, a large British aircraft manufacturers in Ancoats, Manchester.
In 1939 when the Second World War broke out he joined the Royal Navy as a naval engineer and was soon promoted to Chief Petty Officer.
During his service in World War II he did more than one journey on the Russian convoys to Murmonsk, Russia, which later in life he received a medal for.
In 1950 when the Korean War broke out he re-joined the Royal Navy and served until the end of the Korean War in 1953.
On leaving the Royal Navy, Albert acquired a small work shop right next door to Rochdale Road bus depot, hence the name Depot Engineering, this was situated in Sudell Street, Collyhurst, Manchester and became a small but thriving engineering business.
In 1963 Depot moved to larger premises in Clayton, Manchester where it became a well-established and widely known engineering company, dealing with the likes of Francis Shows and Powtek-Gericke.
Depot Engineering became a Limited company on 11th May 1961, unbeknown to Albert that would later be his only sons birthday.
In 1975 Depot moved to even larger premises on Baguley Street, Droylsden, Manchester, where for a number of years continued to thrive successfully, unfortunately on June 23rd 1997 Albert passed away suddenly, leaving the company in the capable hands of his son Patrick, who still manages the company to this day, with the help of his loyal long serving staff, many of the staff who joined the company when at North Road are still working at Depot Engineering, which is now situated at Kayleigh Industrial Estate, Ashton, Manchester.
"Having worked closely with Patrick and the team at Depot Engineering for a number of years I have always found them to be helpful, professional, and efficient, as one of our preferred suppliers I would not hesitate to recommend them for their precision engineering capabilities." Richard Mosley, Director, NTP Group
"Patrick and his team at Depot have supplied machined components to Didsbury Engineering for over 20 years. Throughout this time they have proved to be a valuable supply chain partner, delivering consistently in terms of quality and cost. I would have no hesitation in recommending them to others as a supplier." Paul Reeve, Purchasing Manager, Didsbury Engineering
